Lisa Atkinson, M. S., is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Director of the Couples Clinic. She received a B.S. in Family Social Services and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the accredited training program at Northern Illinois University. She holds Clinical Member Certification with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
Lisa brings an unusual level of compassion and empathy to her work with couples. Partners feel confident in her because they sense that she really understands how life feels to them, and why it feels this way. But Lisa doesn’t stop there – she places a priority on results. Couples who work with her appreciate her honest, direct, straightforward style. Lisa has been an activist for healthy relationships in a variety of settings, including her work with the Illinois Association for Marriage and Family Therapy promoting legislation on behalf of the children and families in Illinois. Her decision to focus on helping couples improve their relationships follows the increasing body of evidence suggesting the crucial role that secure adult relationships play in promoting emotionally healthy adults and their children.
Lisa's (and Brent's) therapy with couples was featured in the cover story of a recent issue of the Psychotherapy Networker. |
